FortranCon originated from an idea of Alfio and Tiziano when they were at the University of Zurich in 2018. This was after the organization of the ForMoSA workshop (Fortran Modernization for Scientific Application). For the first two editions, the event received a grant from the University of Zurich. This is an event organized with contributions by the community for the community, without any direct contribution by any company.
